It presents a collection of tree portraits from around West Lake in Hangzhou, a site steeped in history and a popular tourist destination. These trees, a dominant yet often overlooked component of the lake's landscaping, are brought to the forefront, questioning their usual absence in typical tourist imagery. Interwoven throughout the book is a transcript of a six-month dialogue between myself and a friend. Our exchanges are filled with abstract questions, serving as a means to navigate each other's locations and temporal contexts.
